Q:
What is unique about the Easylite Integrated Lighting System?
A: First, that it is an integrated system, which means the ballasts
provide the power to our system controls (i.e. the power is integrated).
This capability dramatically reduces the cost of installing a controlled
lighting system since you don't need to add the conduit, wire, time
and labor to power your control network.

Q:
How much do your ballasts cost?
A: In a controlled lighting system the cost of the ballasts is just
one of the factors that will add into the overall installed system
cost. The total installed cost (ballasts, controls, installation,
software, etc
) is the more important figure to manage and
to compare the benefits of the lighting system for payback and ROI
analysis. To learn more regarding our pricing and system costs,

Q:
Why don't your controls require line voltage?
A: All of our controls are powered with low voltage and this voltage
is provided directly from our ballasts. This eliminates the need
and cost of circuiting line voltage for lighting controls.

Q:
What is a controlled lighting zone?
A: A controlled lighting zone is a number of ballasts (1 to 250)
which are networked together with our low voltage control cables
which all respond to the same lighting control(s).

Q:
What types of ballasts do you have?
A: Easylite has several dimming fluorescent ballasts which support
T8, T5 HO and T5 lamps. Although we don't manufacture CFL or incandescent
lamps, we can control these fixtures with our system.

Q:
Can you control incandescent lamps as well?
A: Yes, although we don't manufacture CFL or incandescent lamps,
we can control these fixtures with our system.

Q:
How does your system handle peak demand load shedding?
A: The Easylite ILS provides several methods for shedding peak demand.
These include:
-
Time of Day (TOD) scheduling to reduce lighting load during peak
hours
- Interfacing
directly with a demand meter and responding to its kyz output
- Manually
performing zone or global overrides to reduce lighting load

Q:
Is the Easylite ILS an open system?
A: No and Yes. The Easylite ILS control scheme is based on a patented
technology which enables our system to provide control power directly
from the ballast instead of line voltage. Due to the patent, this
aspect of the system is not open. However, Easylite recognizes the
benefits and advantages of open systems, particularly with regard
to facility management integration.

Q:
Are your ballasts individually addressable?
A: No and Yes. In the Easylite ILS, zones are addressed (using our
Address-a-lite module) instead of individual ballasts. Each zone
can contain between 1 to 250 ballasts - therefore, zones of one
ballast can be designed enabling individual ballast/fixture control.
